Beetroot - Golden

A yellow beet that does not bleed. Golden is milder and sweeter than red, and it will not turn everything else on the plate purple.

How to plant it

  • Plant 10cm apart in friable, well-dug soil, same as any beetroot.
  • Golden is a little slower off the mark than red beetroot. Do not panic if it looks behind for the first couple of weeks.
  • Keep it well watered and it catches up. Steady water also stops the root splitting.
  • The leaves are worth eating too, and the yellow stems look good raw in a salad.
  • Lift at eleven to thirteen weeks. It roasts sweeter than red and will not stain your hands or your chopping board.
