Rocket

Peppery, fast and hard to kill. Rocket goes from seedling to salad in about three weeks, and gets hotter the longer you leave it.

How to plant it

  • Plant 15cm apart. Rocket is quick and does not need much room.
  • Start picking individual leaves from three weeks. Young leaves are mild; older ones get properly peppery.
  • Keep it watered. Rocket grown dry is hot enough to take your head off.
  • It bolts fast in warm weather. Picking often slows it down.
  • Let one plant flower at the end. The flowers are edible, taste like the leaves, and the bees will thank you.
